Technology Integration in the Classroom

I love technology and I always have. I used to work for an local ISP providing tech support and designing webpages and I loved it! I believe integrating technology in the classroom is crucial for the success of our students. I have been working as a special ed assistant for the past 3 years in Rockwall, TX and students with disabilities thrive when using technology. Sometimes it is the only thing that motivates them! There are tons of programs that enhance speech therapy, math,and early literacy. There are excellent webpages such as starfall.com and pbs.org where students are having fun and learning. Depending on the student's disability they may need some assistive technology to be able to operate the computer. These devices include a big button instead of a mouse, touch screen or voice recognition software. I believe technology greatly enhances the education of all students, especially students with disabilities.
